Don’t want chemical cleaners, but you do want germ killing power? No worries. You can make your own natural antiviral and antibacterial cleaners. Here’s how!
- 16 oz spray container, preferably dark colored glass
- 16 oz. of 70%+ grain alcohol or 70%+ rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol
- 1/2 teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide or witch hazel
Mix the alcohol and hydrogen peroxide into the glass container. This will constitute your basic recipe. You can experiment with the blends below to find your favorite.
30 drops tea tree essential oil
15 drops lemon essential oil
15 drops lavender essential oil
15 drops eucalyptus essential oil
1 teaspoon of thieves oil
4 teaspoons of tea tree essential oil
40 drops of grapefruit seed extract
These cleaners are all natural and non-toxic. They fight mold, mildew, odors, bacteria, funguses, and viruses. They eliminate bad smells and most leave a pleasant scent behind (some won’t like the tea tree smell).
How to Use It
Use the spray to clean hard surfaces, door knobs, toilets, running shoes, laundry, trashcans, diaper pails, light switches, faucet handles, remote controls, cell phone, keyboards, and freshen the air. You can spray it directly on surfaces, diffuse it into the air, or put it in your washer.
Just shake the bottle before spraying to ensure that the ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the bottle. Spray into the item you want to clean and allow it to air dry.
Many of us are trying to live in more environmentally friendly ways. We are trying to live in connection with Nature. Switching from harsh chemicals to natural options is a great way to clean up the environment and keep us all healthier.
